KARL-UDE MARTINEZ JOINS POWER OF POLO'S BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Power of Polo, the charity that uses polo as a sport for change for people facing adversity, is delighted to celebrate Trustees’ Week by announcing the appointment of Karl Ude-Martinez to its Board of Trustees.
A well-known figure in the polo and equestrian world, Karl brings a wealth of experience as an actor, presenter, professional polo player, and commentator. Trained at East 15 Acting School in London, Karl’s career has taken him from the show-jumping circuit to international polo commentary and television presenting for networks including CBS Sports, Global Polo TV, BBC, ITV, and BT Sport.
Beyond his media and sporting achievements, Karl is the founder and director of The Knights of Middle England, a renowned live entertainment and stunt display company that tours the UK and Europe, also supplying horses and riders for the TV and film industry.
"I am so excited to be joining the Power of Polo team,” said Karl. “Ever since this amazing initiative started I have been right behind them. Sport has the power to bring people together from all walks of life, creating a level playing field so the opportunity for real, positive change is truly remarkable. When you combine that with working alongside horses, using that rare connection that we all love, the therapeutic & well-being benefits are unique.
“Power of Polo connects both these elements to create exciting challenges & to build self-confidence and resilience in participants. I am so looking forward to using my experience in the world of Polo to help to support and grow this charity as much as possible."
Vivek Rawal, Chairman of Power of Polo, added, “we couldn’t be more excited that Karl has agreed to become a trustee. He has been an amazing support to us from the very beginning; I know he will bring valuable insight and energy to our mission to use polo as a catalyst for change. This is a wonderful way for us to celebrate National Trustees’ Week and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our trustees, who give up their time so generously to help Power of Polo.”
Power of Polo looks forward to working with Karl as the charity continues to expand its impact and reach through the sport.
